A few friends and I have been organizing an online workshop series, held via Zoom. It’s been held at 1:30 pm Eastern Daylight Time for the previous sessions, but in an effort to get some more geographical diversity (and to accommodate people who just have appointments, childcare, etc. in the afternoon), we’ll be holding our session on Wednesday, July 22┬ásession at 9:00 pm.

Submission and other details below.

Aesthetics for Distant Birds:
An Online Workshop Series

Co-organizers: Aaron Meskin, Jonathan Neufeld, Thi Nguyen, and Alex King (that’s me)

The third workshop will be held at 9:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time on July 22, depending on how quickly (and how voluminously) we hear from all of you.

Each meeting will last 80-100 minutes and consist of 4-5 short presentation slots.

Submissions

All presentations will be very short: 10 minutes for presentation, and 10 minutes for discussion!

Topic: anything in aesthetics broadly construed, but should be generally philosophical in spirit

We are accepting two kinds of submissions.
(1) Standard papers (though we welcome adventurous and fun topics!): 10 minutes to present, 10 minutes for Q&A
(2) “Show and Tell” sessions: 5-10 minute presentation, 10 minutes for discussion

What’s “Show and Tell”? Think art criticism but also broader. Some neat art experience, object, or phenomenon you encountered that you want to talk about? Have a cool analysis of something you want to try out? Tell us!

To submit something: go here and fill out the Google Form. You’ll need to provide your name and email, your paper title, an abstract, and three keywords. You’ll be asked which type of submission you’re making. And please: Only one submission per person.

To attend only: go here and give us your name and email.

If you submit something, you’ll automatically be added to the attendee email list, so no need to sign up for both.
