Anthony Cross inspects his Uighur dish

Hello, dear readers. Today, we have some changes to announce at AFB.

1. Goodbye Rebecca!
We’d like to say a very, very grateful farewell to Rebecca Victoria Millsop (see her introductory bio here), who has been a wonderful Assistant Editor since 2015. Thank you Rebecca, and we wish you all the best with your future projects!

2. Hello Anthony!
We’d like to welcome a new staff member, Anthony Cross. He’ll now be contributing regularly to the blog… and maybe some other things in the new year! (Sorry, no spoilers for now!) Anthony is a lecturer in philosophy at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. His research focuses on the ethical and normative significance of our relationships with aesthetic objects. He’s especially interested in the idea—borrowed from Stanley Cavell—that we treat artworks in ways usually reserved for our treatment of other persons. His published work has focused in developing an account of aesthetic normativity that does justice to this thought. Before graduate school, he worked as a photo editor at a lifestyle magazine in New York, and he maintains a serious interest in photography and the visual arts. He also spends way too much time on the internet—a fact which he writes off as “research”, given his longstanding interest in the aesthetics of internet memes.

For existing staff bios and more, see our About page.
